Trevor Borley

Former Detective Inspector

Child Abuse Investigator, Senior Trainer

Trevor retired from the Metropolitan Police Service in February 2021 as a Detective Inspector, where he led the MPS Crime Academy Investigation Faculty. His specialisms are learning and development, child abuse investigation, including child death, and the investigation of serious and acquisitive crime.

Trevor has 32 years of investigation experience. He served on a major operation targeting drugs and vice through proactive methods. He worked for the Department of Professional Standards, leading both covert and reactive investigations, whilst managing risk to the MPS.

As a Detective Inspector, he led major crime investigations, whilst delivering outcomes through partnership working. He led the busiest child abuse investigation team in the MPS, investigating crimes that included serious sexual offences, child death, FGM and honour-based violence. He worked collaboratively with partners and commissioned serious case reviews.

As a trainer, he led the Management of Serious Crime Investigation Development Programme (Detective Inspectors Course), and the National Child Death Investigation Course, alongside other learning and development programmes. He delivered the Mi investigation programme for the MPS and the new Direct Entry Detective Career Pathway.

Trevor has a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, with 5 years of teaching experience and has a level 3 qualification in assessing.
